Ganeshotsav or VinayakaChaturthi puja starts with Pranaprathishtha-the process of infusing the deity into the idol.Modak, a sweet dish prepared using rice or flour stuffed with grated jaggery, coconuts and dry fruits offered during this puja. Then Shhodashopachara – or the 16 forms of paying tribute to Ganesha, Uttarpuja - Puja after which the idol could be shifted and lastly the GanpatiVisarjan or the immersion of the Idol in the river.
